Designed by Rafael Vinoly (Architects) and ARUP (MEP), the project includes exhibit areas, a classroom, a library, a theater, administrative & education offices and lunch rooms. It will be the first LEED children's museum in New York. Viridian professionals, under the NYSERDA FlexTech program, are providing consulting services for both energy efficiency measures and environmentally responsible architectural features. The project was started before 2006, when Viridian professionals were the Energy/Green/Commissioning group part of another company. This group formed the nucleus of Viridian.
