The professionals of Viridian have been providing consulting on energy efficiency and sustainable design for the 32-story and 24-story towers. Currently Viridian performs the commissioning of HVAC and lighting systems. The buildings have many advanced features, including outdoor air delivered to each room in the apartments, green roofs, storm water collection and reuse, and a fuel cell. The work was co-funded by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority and was started before 2006, when Viridian professionals were part of another company. The design team includes Ehrenkrantz Eckstut and Kuhn Architects (design), Costas Kondylis and Partners (AOR), and Cosentini Associates (MEP). Others green achievements: Battery Park City Sustainable Guidelines compliance.
